In the headlines: Health and technology: what are the advances and news in the field?
Telemedicine was at the heart of the ninth edition of the Digital Health Connect conference, held on Wednesday at the Clinique romande de réadaptation in Sion. International experts, notably from Israel and the United States, shared their opinions, hopes and fears in relation to remote medicine, which has really taken off since the beginning of the Covid-19 crisis. Telemedicine opens the field of possibilities, but both patients and caregivers want to keep the human dimension. Technology alone will not be enough.
On the other hand, “PIMP my HUG”. This system, whose acronym stands for “Patients In My Pocket”, would improve the efficiency of healthcare teams. Indeed, it offers each member a “targeted and updated list of patients in his care, direct access to laboratory and imaging results, while automatically connecting caregivers in charge of the same patients through an instant messaging system” as described in a release. Preliminary studies have reportedly shown “substantial benefit through its use.”
