In the headlines: the ups and downs of the electronic patient record and the boost of telemedicine.
The Cara Association has announced the launch of the electronic patient file for the cantons of Vaud, Valais, Fribourg, Geneva and Jura. The On en parle team tried to open a file, but the experience proved to be long and tedious. It should also be noted that it took more than six years to complete the loop and propose a clean “electronic patient record”. However, it is not that Valais has dragged its feet, quite the contrary.
Furthermore, the coronavirus has undoubtedly boosted digitization by giving a tremendous boost to telemedicine: 26% of doctors surveyed said they had provided remote care in the three months preceding the survey. Now, in order to become a permanent fixture in the healthcare sector, these new tools must convince and reassure. Trust, data protection and accuracy of measurement are all challenges that need to be addressed quickly.
